Panel Project Lead (Qualitative)

This real-time access to consumers is coupled with its state-of-the-art, market research survey and analytics platform.  Toluna is building a unique and trusted vendor-client partnership with one of the largest non-profit associations in the US.  This partnership focuses on the building and managing of two Community-Panels that will support a large portion of our client’s primary research over many years. Toluna is looking to strengthen this relationship by adding an exceptional client service professional.

Major Purpose of the Position:

We are looking for an experienced qualitative project lead researcher and moderator with excellent analytical, collaboration, and consulting skills to coordinate and manage research study requests from our client’s many internal and external stakeholders and clients. This includes consulting, designing, proposing, directing, conducting, and analysing mainly qualitative market research projects. Reporting to the Director, Client Panels at Toluna, the candidate should be in tune with the strategic corporate objectives of our client so that research is proposed, designed and managed in a way that is in line with executive interests and exceed our client’s expectations.


  • Will act as the single point of contact for all our client’s internal and external stakeholder groups and clients who wish to conduct (quantitative and) qualitative projects with one of their two research panels.This will entail fully understanding qualitative methodologies, the intricacies of the research panels to provide advice and managing client expectations on feasibility, pricing, timing and cost of studies.
  • The Lead is responsible for keeping a detailed schedule of ongoing projects for each of the two panels and be responsible to manage deliverables from all client and Toluna teams.
  • Qualitative Expertise: Drives and develops methodological approach and activities utilizing techniques that help elicit relevant and meaningful insights. This includes developing the screener and logistical set up of each activity, activity materials (discussion and listening guides, templates, materials as stimulus for research etc.), leads/moderates activities, analyzes and synthesizes research findings, and creates insightful and actionable recommendations into a final report/presentation.
  • Project Management: The Lead will have a Toluna team of project managers, scripters, data processors and others to draw from to support the execution of qualitative activities and fulfill the quantitative project work.The Manager will be responsible for resource allocation and ensuring projects are delivered on time and with exceptional quality.
  • Is the escalation point for all in-field projects and will be the operations expert to solve issues as they arise and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for overall client satisfaction and managing the Client relationships to generate repeat business.
  • The Panel Project Lead is responsible for being a knowledge center on all qualitative matters as well as field operations and be able to assist our client’s associates at any time while also being able to keep the Director at Toluna up-to-date on all program changes, requirements and timelines.
  • Provides staff training, mentorship and development, including being an internal advisor and resource for sophisticated qualitative methodologies.

Experience & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree is required with at least 5+ years of experience in consumer insights on the supplier side.
  • 3-5 years project management experience specifically for market research with excellent understanding of qualitative and quantitative online research data collection processes.
  • Working knowledge of qualitative market research and experience moderating a must
  • Methodological design experience and Research Analysis is a must.
  • Previous project management experience; clear understanding of project set-up, recruiting, familiarity working with an expanded team i.e. agency, corporate, platforms, consultants, freelancers.
  • Experience in running hybrid studies, familiarity and understanding of quantitative analyses.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically and distill information into actionable, story-telling reporting deliverables
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and deductive thinking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Very strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills, SPSS a definite asset.
