Junior Data Processor - Malaysia

To complete our team, based in Malaysia and support our growth in APAC, we are looking for a Junior Data Processor in the Data Processing department.

The Role

The primary role is to take over the full responsibility for the data processing of the survey related to the Online Market Research projects. This includes the overall responsibility of the data processing & analysis of market research data that include: Data preparation (includes data validation, cleaning, coding, aggregation, merging and summarization), Tabulation, Data Analysis using a wide variety of statistical methods, multivariate analysis supported with statistical tests, using the industry standard packages and tools such as SPSS, Excel, etc.

The challenge is to deliver a high quality product and service in a tight timeframe in order to meet the client's expectations. The Data Processor will be actively involved in the support and coordination of the team.

Key objectives:

  • Responsible of the delivery of the projects:
    • Take full responsibility on projects assigned.
    • Meeting the timeline expectations while maintaining our high quality standards
    • Ensuring smooth running and timely delivery of all projects originating from the respective office.
    • Support the members of the team at the proposal stage, consulting on complex projects/data management
    • Taking responsibility in supporting the team members in difficult situations
    • Actively making proposals to improve the existing processes, tools and products.


Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Day to day Responsibilities:
    • Data Preparation: Data entry, cleaning, coding, aggregation, merging and summarization
    • Data Analysis (descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, etc) to accurately identify fraudulent respondents (speeders, straightliners, cheaters)
    • Process data file in ASCII / XLS /SPSS (.SAV) or any other format requested by client.
    • Report data inconsistencies, if any, and then cleans the data to make it consistent with the questionnaire and any other specifications from the client
    • Tabulation done using Q and Excel Macro
    • Able to work from the simplest projects to large scale and multi-country projects,
    • Take full responsibility and accountability of the Data Processing of the Online Survey assigned
    • Define the details related to the Data Processing, like plan, time line, resource required and potential roadblock
    • Closely liaise with Project Manager for projects briefing and post survey information.
    • Closely liaise with all Operations teams and keep control of the project status by coordinating all parts involved at all time.
    • Escalate any outstanding issue to Senior Operations Manager as soon as identified.


Qualifications/ Requirement

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Statistics, Maths or any related courses
  • Good skills on SPSS, Microsoft Office including Excel. Knowledge of Q software and Excel Macro is a plus.
  • Research mindset – able to look at data at the mindset of the client or researchers
  • High Level of professionalism and integrity
  • Self-motivated
  • Open to learning new software, analysis and skill sets
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight timings
  • Team oriented, but highly independent for their own projects
  • High level of organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Proactive + Multitasker + hands on approach with a can do attitude
  • Good verbal and written language skills for English (required)
  • Some late working hours based on team and business requirements
